Sunset at Gun Hill, Mussoorie

As a part of our journey to Char Dham Yatra, I am trying to share my precise experiences and showcase the mesmerizing beauty of the Garhwal Himalayan Ranges of Uttara Khand through the images caught up on my camera. After Company Bagh, we visited Gun Hill point in Mussoorie. Gun Hill is the second top peak of Mussoorie, which is 500 meters uphill trek from Mall Road. There is a rope way also to go up the hill. But we preferred to trek up as a preparation for our difficult treks ahead in the trip. To be honest, many of us found trekking a mere 500 meters up hill was difficult.  During pre-independence period there used to be a Gun mounted on the top and used to be fired at mid-day to enable people to adjust their watches. It provides 360 degree view of Himalayan ranges namely but we could hardly see any of these ranges due to clouds. What we could see was the beautiful sunset on western side of the hill. I am sharing some of these pictures for you. Here we go: The...

Company Bagh, Mussoorie

Mansoori or popularly known as Mussoorie is a famous hill station in the state of Uttarakhand. Mansoor is a shrub found in the region; hence the name Mansoori to the place that later changed to Mussoorie may be by the Britishers.  Mansoori is a beautiful hill station with chilled breeze blowing around even during Summers hence the favorite destination for Indians during Summers. This was my first visit to Mansoori. Though I liked the place but was little disappointed with the growth of hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and other constructions in the area destroying the beauty of Mansoori. You will not find the beauty of Mansoori that we all have seen in the movies during early 60's and 70's. Anyway, still it is worth visiting place if you are planning to visit Uttarakhand.  We had been to few places in Mansoori and Company Bagh is one such place where we enjoyed the most. It is a beautiful Garden with vast variety of flowers. I would like to share some of those won...

A Tribute to Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar

B.K.S. Iyengar a renowned yogacharya needs no introduction to the yoga world. Born on December 14, 1918 in a remote village of Bellur took his name and fame  to the entire world. All his life he strive hard to take yoga to every individual across the world. Last year on 20 th of August 2014, he left his mortal body leaving his students and followers in a grief. I first met Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar on Guru Poornima day 4 years ago in Pune. Commemorating Guru Poornima 2015 on 31 st July and his first anniversary on 20 th of August 2015, I am presenting a collection of photos as a tribute to our beloved Guruji Sri. B.K.S. Iyengar. I love to capture the action found in the nature as it is so realistic and dynamic. It doesn’t pose for the camera to capture as humans do. But I found Guruji an exception in this case.  I always enjoyed taking his snaps and filming him every time I get the opportunity. It is a sheer joy and deligh...
