Maha Kumbh Mela 2013

Maha Kumbh Mela has a great spiritual significance for Indians and many others across the World. I got an opportunity to experience the feel of Maha Kumbh Mela held in the year 2013 at Prayag. I have been thinking of a new photo blog for quite sometime which happened now. I don't think there won't any better event than kumbh to start with. So let me share some of the wonderful view that was captured by my camera.

This beautiful sand structure caught up my eyes on the sand bed across the river Ganga during our night walk alongside the river.

Caught these beautiful ladies in my lens walking alongside the river at night in the glowing lights all over.

What a delightful sight isn't it? A chariot passing alongside the river in the lonely night and the lights glowing all over as if the stars have come down to Earth.

My friends and I have enjoyed every bit of our presence at Kumbh. I don't think we can relive this moment again. These pictures tell you all.

Local villagers going back home on a tractor after a tiring day of work.

The police personnel doing their duty un-caring the bone tickling cold conditions across the Kumbh Mela grounds to safeguard lakhs of people visiting the giant event.

These two kids having their own share of enjoyment in the cool breezing night at Kumbh.

A group of sadhus having great time posing to my camera.

Yamunotri in Images

From Lakhamandal Temple at Jaunsar Village, we traveled to Yamunotri and halted at Janaki chatti. Chatti means a hill in Gadwali language. The road journey to Yamunotri via Barkot, Syana chatti, Rana chatti and Hanuman chatti etc. is quite exciting and adventurous one passing through narrow roads with steep turns. The road passes through thrilling and exhilarating locations offering picturesque surroundings with awesome Deodhar trees, shrubs, lush meadows and gushing cascades. You will find the entire beauty of Gadwal mountain ranges. Two eyes doesn't seem enough looking at those beautiful mountains and valleys of Gadwal Himalayan ranges. Eyes get tired of watching the beauty of those mountains but still can't resist from looking at them. Janaki chatti is the last destination for a vehicle to halt for Yamunotri. It is 6 kilometers trek from here. We halted at a hotel in Janaki Chatti and trekked to Yamunotri the next morning. The picture below is the temple you find a...

Guruji's Vision on Bellur

As a part of my trip to Bellur, this is the second edition of my update on Bellur. In this I decided to share the vision of Guruji on Bellur and the developments that are taking place to fulfill his vision. Guruji had a vision on Bellur, his birth place. He saw the people of Bellur are suffering from Poverty, Illiteracy, Unemployment and ill-health. With a vision to help the people of Bellur he established a trust named after his parents "Bellur Krishnamachar and Seshamma Smaraka Nidhi Trust."  Under the Umbrella of this Trust, he established a High School, a College, a Hospital, a Yoga Hall etc imparting education, health and employment to the people of Bellur. Today I am going to guide you to the trip of Bellur through the lenses of my camera. These two idols of Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge and Lakshmi, the goddess of Wealth gives the first darshan on the walls of BKSSNT entrance. And rightly so, Guruji's Trust imparts the wealth of health throu...

Trip to Melukote with Rita Keller

Every year during her workshop in Bellur Rita Keller take students to some historic places giving a break to yoga regimen for a change. For last two consecutive years we visited Melukote with her. Melukote is on Mysore road around 200 kilometers from Bellur which is probably a 4 hour road journey if started early avoiding Bengaluru traffic. It is one of the ancient towns in Karnataka with great religious importance. Melukote is a sacred place for Hindus and also an important place for Guruji and his family. A very ancient Library and Sanskrit college, the Raya Gopuram, Cheluvanarayana Temple, Pushkarini, Yoga Narasimha temple etc. are some of the highlights of the place. We reached the library and Sanskrit college in around 11 A.M. I will now try to guide you through images what you can find in Melukote. This is the first sight that come across you the moment you enter the Vedavedanta Bodhini Sanskrit college. A huge monolithic rock behind the college.  S...
