Sunset at Gun Hill, Mussoorie

As a part of our journey to Char Dham Yatra, I am trying to share my precise experiences and showcase the mesmerizing beauty of the Garhwal Himalayan Ranges of Uttara Khand through the images caught up on my camera.

After Company Bagh, we visited Gun Hill point in Mussoorie. Gun Hill is the second top peak of Mussoorie, which is 500 meters uphill trek from Mall Road. There is a rope way also to go up the hill. But we preferred to trek up as a preparation for our difficult treks ahead in the trip. To be honest, many of us found trekking a mere 500 meters up hill was difficult.

During pre-independence period there used to be a Gun mounted on the top and used to be fired at mid-day to enable people to adjust their watches. It provides 360 degree view of Himalayan ranges namely but we could hardly see any of these ranges due to clouds. What we could see was the beautiful sunset on western side of the hill. I am sharing some of these pictures for you. Here we go:

The Sun is about to set. Beautiful!

Look at the sky it's getting more and more Orange.

Words are too small to describe the beauty. Just watch and enjoy

The Sun is about to Kiss the Mountain. What a Beauty!

And here it did. Magnificent! Isn't it?

Now it's going to hide behind he Mountain. Awesome view.

And finally, it says Good bye for today, with a promise to come again tomorrow.

It was really difficult for me to bring some of the best shots because I clicked as many shots not to miss this wonderful event of my life. I hope you liked them. If liked please subscribe the blog and share it with others. Thank you, keep watching the space for more updates.

Rishikesh, Mussoorie and Haridwar

I heard many legends about "Rishikesh" since my childhood days. It is considered as Devi Bhoomi, the land of Gods and Tapo Bhoomi, the land of Penance. They say, many Gods lived here and great saints and sages did their tapas and attained enlightenment. Finally, after a long wait of 40 years I got a chance to visit Rishikesh. I must thank my teacher Smt. Zarna Mohan for conducting an Iyengar yoga workshop at Rishikesh. And how can I forget Parmeshwar ji who is responsible for the yoga workshop and our char dham yatra. Thank you Parmeshji. The major attraction of Rishikesh is off course the  sacred river Ganga. You will find many temples, yoga and Ayurveda centers and ashrams across the banks of river. It is considered as World Capital of Yoga as well. I haven't found the Rishikesh I heard of. It is very much crowded now and many trees in the forests have been shaved off for construction of ashrams, hotels and other commercial establishments. But still I got co...

Guruji's Vision on Bellur

As a part of my trip to Bellur, this is the second edition of my update on Bellur. In this I decided to share the vision of Guruji on Bellur and the developments that are taking place to fulfill his vision. Guruji had a vision on Bellur, his birth place. He saw the people of Bellur are suffering from Poverty, Illiteracy, Unemployment and ill-health. With a vision to help the people of Bellur he established a trust named after his parents "Bellur Krishnamachar and Seshamma Smaraka Nidhi Trust."  Under the Umbrella of this Trust, he established a High School, a College, a Hospital, a Yoga Hall etc imparting education, health and employment to the people of Bellur. Today I am going to guide you to the trip of Bellur through the lenses of my camera. These two idols of Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge and Lakshmi, the goddess of Wealth gives the first darshan on the walls of BKSSNT entrance. And rightly so, Guruji's Trust imparts the wealth of health throu...

Beautiful Mana Village

Mana is the last Indian village from the border of India and Tibet in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. It is located in the district of Chamoli at an elevation of 3219 meters and is designated as the tourist village by the Government of Uttarakhand. Most of the tourists visiting Badrinath visits Mana as it is 3 Kms away from Badrinath. Early morning after the darshan of Badrinath two of companions Mr. & Mrs Varma left back to Hyderabad due to their prior commitments. Kamesh, Mani, Virupaksha, Tulsi and I visited Mana village the same day around 10 A.M. It is a small beautiful village with around 150-180 houses in the village. It is surrounded by some of these beautiful snow mountains.    Mana is famous for its woollen garments and materials likes blankets, sweaters, shawls, mufflers, caps etc. mostly of sheep wool. For visitors I would advise them not to buy warmers in the cities but rather buy them here in Mana village. City w...
