Guruji's Vision on Bellur

As a part of my trip to Bellur, this is the second edition of my update on Bellur. In this I decided to share the vision of Guruji on Bellur and the developments that are taking place to fulfill his vision.
Guruji had a vision on Bellur, his birth place. He saw the people of Bellur are suffering from Poverty, Illiteracy, Unemployment and ill-health. With a vision to help the people of Bellur he established a trust named after his parents "Bellur Krishnamachar and Seshamma Smaraka Nidhi Trust."

Under the Umbrella of this Trust, he established a High School, a College, a Hospital, a Yoga Hall etc imparting education, health and employment to the people of Bellur.

Today I am going to guide you to the trip of Bellur through the lenses of my camera.

These two idols of Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge and Lakshmi, the goddess of Wealth gives the first darshan on the walls of BKSSNT entrance. And rightly so, Guruji's Trust imparts the wealth of health through yoga and knowledge through education.

This is what you see on entering the campus area. A beautiful view of fountain where idols of Patanjali and Ganesha are seen taking showers when the fountain is on. You can also see the hospital building behind this. The hospital provides free consultation and treatment to patients visiting here.
Going few steps to the right, you will find this beautiful school building constructed after the name of Guruji's wife "Smt. Ramamani Sundararaja Iyengar High School."
This is our popular PET Master Lakshmikanth with his students.
Walking further down to the right just behind the school, you will see a beautiful little guest house for Guruji and his family.
Here you see a tall tower of water tank with ARO filter that takes care of the water needs of the people living and visiting in the area.
Few steps left from here you will find this beautiful yoga hall which Guruji personally supervised and built.
It is uniquely built on a huge monolithic rock and must have taken great effort to bring greenery on the rock.
A night view of the yoga hall. Beautiful isn't it?
Now let us see the interiors. Mind blowing! Is it not!
Walking down the line from yoga hall you will find this beautiful lobby of Cafeteria.
Stepping inside, you will find this beautiful massive cafeteria with a ravishing background of green farms on the right.
This is the setup of Kitchen with a clean and hygienic environment.
A view from the lobby, newly constructed building for accommodation of visitors.
Here you go! The close look of this modern setup established to serve the visitors from different parts of the World.
A far view of the same building. This was shot last year. Lot of greenery has come by now.
Walking over these sand steps down the line, you will find some of these beautiful water ponds and some farming around.
Just crossing this water pond, you will find a beautiful college constructed with all the modern infrastructure required for higher education.
Guruji inaugurated this college on 27th of November, 2012 on the eve of his 94th birthday and I was fortunate enough to be present on that occasion.
Guruji was immensely happy for the achievements of the students of Bellur in the field of Yoga and Education.
Some corporate companies have helped in building this college.
We visited the college and explored. It is fully equipped with modern day infrastructure to help the students make their careers.
It has fully equipped computer and science lab for the students.
This is a guide to Bellur showing some materialistic developments that are taking place in Bellur to fulfill the vision of Guruji. The real development is happening among the students of Bellur which I will try to portray in my next blog. So till then keep watching the space for more updates. Thank you for staying with me.

Yamunotri in Images

From Lakhamandal Temple at Jaunsar Village, we traveled to Yamunotri and halted at Janaki chatti. Chatti means a hill in Gadwali language. The road journey to Yamunotri via Barkot, Syana chatti, Rana chatti and Hanuman chatti etc. is quite exciting and adventurous one passing through narrow roads with steep turns. The road passes through thrilling and exhilarating locations offering picturesque surroundings with awesome Deodhar trees, shrubs, lush meadows and gushing cascades. You will find the entire beauty of Gadwal mountain ranges. Two eyes doesn't seem enough looking at those beautiful mountains and valleys of Gadwal Himalayan ranges. Eyes get tired of watching the beauty of those mountains but still can't resist from looking at them. Janaki chatti is the last destination for a vehicle to halt for Yamunotri. It is 6 kilometers trek from here. We halted at a hotel in Janaki Chatti and trekked to Yamunotri the next morning. The picture below is the temple you find a...

A Tribute to Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar

B.K.S. Iyengar a renowned yogacharya needs no introduction to the yoga world. Born on December 14, 1918 in a remote village of Bellur took his name and fame  to the entire world. All his life he strive hard to take yoga to every individual across the world. Last year on 20 th of August 2014, he left his mortal body leaving his students and followers in a grief. I first met Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar on Guru Poornima day 4 years ago in Pune. Commemorating Guru Poornima 2015 on 31 st July and his first anniversary on 20 th of August 2015, I am presenting a collection of photos as a tribute to our beloved Guruji Sri. B.K.S. Iyengar. I love to capture the action found in the nature as it is so realistic and dynamic. It doesn’t pose for the camera to capture as humans do. But I found Guruji an exception in this case.  I always enjoyed taking his snaps and filming him every time I get the opportunity. It is a sheer joy and deligh...
